School of Cinema and Television of Caracas

foto mcc.JPG

- Our School of Cinema and Television was founded by Lic. María Cristina Capriles in 1983.
- Our website is http://www.escinetv.org.ve
- We recruit students with a high school diploma and some college graduates.
- The degrees we award are recognized by the Venezuelan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which means they have international
validity through the sponsorship of diplomatical channels.
- Fees for international students are US$ 1400 per trimester. The integral course of Cinema and Television consists in 10 trimesters, each of them is composed by 160 hours of both lectures and practical training.

- We are happy to provide logistical support to international students on matters regarding housing rent and other services specific to their needs.
- In the past we have had international students from Colombia, Paraguay, Panama and other Latin American countries.
- Language of instruction is Spanish. We would be happy to work out a way so that international students whose fluency in Spanish is basic could
take Spanish courses here along with their regular cinema and television instruction.
- The course program is described on our web page.
- The School of Cinema and Television in Caracas organizes the yearly amateur short film festival, displayed simultaneously in Venezuela's ten largest cities, and its jury is composed by the country's most renowned filmmakers.

On behalf of the professors and the employees of the School of Cinema and Television of Caracas, Rivero & Cooper, Inc. warmly thanks you for having requested this information from us, and hope that the School's instruction program meets the needs of aspiring young filmmakers
from your country. Please feel free to contact the School's Deputy President, Ruben Rivero, ruben@riverocooper.com
for additional information on our School.

The admissions office will be happy to assist prospective students who are already aware of the requirements and payment forms as fully described
on the School's website. Professors and current students interact in the Spanish language. We may consider for admission those international students with survival listening and reading Spanish skills already proven, as we may hire additional faculty exclusively for the purpose of advanced Spanish instruction.

The international students we had so far were from Latin American countries and used to live at the homes of relatives. However, we can at this time think of advising students where to rent and provide recommendations for them. They would probably have to stay in a hotel while they look for a more permanent place to live.

The $1400 is per trimester, three months. There are ten trimesters. Total cost would be $14,000. This fee may slightly increase next year. The Integral course of Cinema and Television is usually three years. Please look at the course offerings (the titles are words that are similar in English and Spanish) at the School's website. In the last semester students in groups create original video and audio work averaging 15 minutes of length. Some of those works are quite outstanding and reflect the excellence of the School's education during the last 26 years.

The Venezuelan film industry has recently caught speed, just like the soccer team. We could later also consider exchanges between Venezuela and other countries regarding the video and movie industry. We understand that several countries have a thriving movie business but that they lack enough solid educational institutions to teach them the appropriate Cinema and television technical skills. The School of Cinema and Television of Caracas intends to fill this gap for the benefit of the world's youth.
